After I decided that I would like to pursue my dream, I thought it would be a good idea to become an apprentice at a sewing shop. I spoke with some people and I found the ideal person to work with and from which I could also ‘steal’ some craft.
Alexandra asked me to come at her place the next day. It all happened so fast, and that was a huge achievement for me. I went to Molcush (that’s her brand) and I told her my idea (I’ll keep it a secret for now). I told her I want to learn things and that I’m also inclined to help her do anything that she needs, as an apprentice. We both concluded that it would be a fair exchange.
For a couple of minutes I watched her do stuff in her shop, but I was really impatient to start my learner role. I asked her if I could paint the blanket she was already working on, and then I learned how to set pins on fabrics and many more basic techniques.
Hours passed and then came the moment of truth: I sat down in front of the sewing machine and I had to sew the first lines. My heart was racing but I did a good job for a first timer.
So, after my first day at the sewing shop, I managed to sew my first real product: a tote bag.
Many more adventures from the sewing shop to come!
